One of the reasons why we homeschool is because a child has a greater opportunity to exercise responsibility. In a school, the child is directed by teachers and bells all day long. This article discusses this issue without addressing homeschooling, but our culture and environment, being very different from the school, can easily be modified to suit our children and foster desirable character traits.
